“Raise the bar” -- Take the daily challenge to improve the level of your game!
The Highland Games is an annual event held each October at Stone Mountain Park. Colorful tartans, drum and bagpipe music, dancing, trained performing herding dogs and a variety of games set the scene . A bounty of cultural food and souvenirs galore top off the festive event.
Sheri: One of our favorite games to watch is the popular “Caber Toss”, portrayed in Bill’s photo above which he captured several years ago.
The “tosser” in the green shirt with hands in the air had just tossed end over end a 16-20 ft caber pole that weighed between 90-150 lbs. Grunting and shouting crowd-pleasing expletives accompanied the toss. Cheers at a Caber Toss game rise from the crowd for successful tosses of impressive distance and for tossers providing entertaining theatrics.
Bill: Kilts are appropriate, although gusty winds occasionally answer whispered questions. (ah…a favorite song reference here--do you know which song?)
Tossers choose weight and size of the bar they toss. Of course, whoever is successful using the largest caber has final bragging rights, which publicly raises not only the level of their game, but also sets the stage for an even better competition at the next Highland Games. Win-win for everyone!
Which in fact is what happens in all our lives when we all take the daily challenge to improve the level of our game. Raise the bar!

Thanks to Brendon Blake, Doctor of Physical Therapy at our favorite Back In The Game Physical Therapy (BIG), who always provide the most excellent care (Bill: Yes! A big thanks to the whole team!).
Brendon says this quote helps motivate him daily to keep striving for his best performance in all aspects of his life.
