A Good Egg

“If you were an egg, what kind would you be?”

It’s a lighthearted question with a meaningful center. Because beneath the shell of personality, we all carry something that defines us: our character. And in a world that sometimes feels a little scrambled, being a good egg still matters.

A good egg is trustworthy. Kind. Reliable. The kind of person who shows up when they say they will, listens when it counts, and lends a hand without keeping score. They don’t need to be flashy, they’re steady. Consistent. The kind of presence that quietly makes everything better.

Of course, we eggs are not all the same.

Sheri: I think I am a scrambled egg—a mix of talents, ideas, and emotions all blended together. I can seem a bit scattered at times, but folks usually find me approachable and creative and pretty energetic.

Bill: Me, I am the hardboiled type—firm, structured, dependable. You always know where I stand (at 6’ 5” you can’t miss me 😊). I’m solid on the outside, and thoughtful and sincere within...well, sometimes I think it’s deviled.

Then there is over easy—gentle, adaptable, going with the flow - they don’t overcomplicate things. Easy to be around, easy to talk to – you know, those folks that help smooth out life’s rough edges.

And of course, there are the sunny side-up personalities – those optimists who are usually bright, hopeful, and forward-looking. They remind us that even on cloudy days, there’s still light to be found. Their outlook is contagious in the best way.

Maybe instead you’re an omelet or a soufflé - a little more layered, a little more refined. You’ve taken time to grow, to develop depth, to combine experiences into something uniquely your own.

And now that we’ve cracked open all these different kinds of eggs, the point isn’t to become something you’re not. It’s to appreciate the variety.

Each kind brings something to the table. The steady ones. The spirited ones. The simple ones. The complex ones. None better—just different.

And maybe that’s what makes things work.

Because life isn’t about fitting into one carton—it’s about recognizing that every egg has its place, and that things turn out best when we value what each one brings…a good egg all around!
