“Whatever you are be a good one” Abe Lincoln are wise words from our 16th President. Whether you're a butcher, baker, or candlestick maker, why not shoot for the stars? Imagine being the best tennis player, best friend, or author of clever stories. Whatever you are, be good at it!
The roots of your confidence can then grow like a water lily—deep beneath the surface, invisible to the naked eye, until one day, it blossoms into something magnificent.
Bill: What if you’re a world-class procrastinator and you’re so good at procrastinating that you can procrastinate procrastination itself…does that mean you get lots of stuff done? 😊
Sheri: Hmm…whether that would actually work or not is debatable. I do know achievement isn’t just about getting an award or medal. And how I feel about my effort (and my reputation) usually comes from how I see myself not from others. When I do my best, I feel satisfied, knowing I gave it my all.
So, whether you're climbing the corporate ladder, perfecting your grandma’s secret cookie recipe, or writing the next great novel, the key is to show up, give it your best, and keep growing.
Bill: Our waterlily picture was taken at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. Walking out of the Gardens after a good day’s shoot, “Lily” caught my eye (lens). With its roots visible just beneath the waterline, her stem had pushed its way above the surface—Lily understood it was her time to bloom.
Just like the waterlily, your hard work and dedication might not be visible right away, but with time and persistence, something truly beautiful will emerge. So go ahead, be a good one, whatever one you choose to be!
