The mountains rose majestically, white and gray against the wide western sky. Below, a seemingly endless valley of green trees. The landscape was expansive and generous with perspective…you know, the big scheme of things.
Sometimes freedom looks like this kind of stillness. Where there is space around your thoughts. Space around your fears.
Space inside your choices.
Bigger than the deadlines and the constant hum of what comes next.
Room to breathe again.
Sheri: Standing there, life took on another scale, and the world felt bigger than the noise in my head. Even my mental to-do list (usually very loud) quieted down for a minute.
Bill: Big views have a way of keeping us honest - and a little humbled. Good for the soul and hard on the ego. When the horizon stretches out like this, the things that felt heavy suddenly feel lighter…and not because they changed, but because we did. Perspective rearranges priorities in a place this dynamic. When we allow ourselves to see beyond the moment we’re standing in, the scheme changes.
Sheri: That feeling - almost a need to stop and breathe - found its way into a song I co-wrote with Rob Kuhlman called Free. Same thoughts. Same openness. Just carried on in a melody instead of the wind.

Freedom lives in the shift, when you remember that you don’t need to know every destination to feel unbound. You don’t need certainty to feel open. You don’t need to have everything figured out to feel at home in your own skin. No solutions, just perspective and opportunity.
Sometimes freedom is simply standing where you are long enough to notice how the world opens around you – that’s the big scheme of things.

Standing in that valley, with the mountains stretching wide above, it’s easy to feel both small and limitless at the same time.
That same sense of space, freedom, and perspective shows up in music too, songs that remind us to breathe, to let go, and to open ourselves to the world around us.
