Put Ping in Your Pong

Picture a ping-pong player reaching to strike a backhand. Knees bent, paddle poised, eyes locked, ready to challenge gravity itself. The ball hangs in the air for a split second, glowing with possibility. And that’s the shot: not just playing ping-pong, but playing with purpose. It’s putting some ping in your pong, that spark, that zip, that pep in your step.
Sheri: It’s easy to get caught up in the daily “to-dos” – cleaning, meetings, errands, email inbox avalanches, and dinner dishes staging a quiet revolution. Before we know it, it’s like we are just tapping the ball back and forth, going through the motions, barely noticing the table wobbling underneath us. We need to add a little spin, slice and dice, a little “watch this!” to the everyday.
Ping is the energy you bring. Pong is how the world sends it back. When your ping is strong, your pong gets better, Conversations open up, creativity flows, and even the grocery clerk seems to smile wider.
Bill: Ok - sure, you can hustle harder - run around the table like you’re training for the Ping-Pong Olympics. But playing harder isn’t the same as playing smarter. Aim your shots with the outcome in mind. Stay engaged like a seasoned player who’s ready for the wild, unpredictable bounce, the one that reminds you that life, much like my backhand, has opinions of its own. Add a little humor. Add a little heart. And when in doubt, pretend you meant to hit it that way. Works every time.
And be sure to add a dash of sparkle to your relationships, too. Think of every interaction as a friendly rally—one where you show up with encouragement, attention, and a willingness to laugh at the funny little spin life puts on the ball. People feel your energy. They return it. Suddenly things seem a little brighter, a little lighter, a little more fun.
So go ahead, put some ping in your pong. Bring enthusiasm to the ordinary, curiosity to the familiar, and a little mischief to the routine. Life responds to the energy you serve.
Make it playful. Make it positive. And…make it count.
