“See the good in others” … When you do, chances are others may then see the good in you…and you may also see it in yourself.
Our friend, Jim Hammock contributed this quote. With a bachelor’s degree in political science, and having worked as a Probation Officer for the State of Georgia, and also as a Special Agent with NCIS, Jim stated that this motivational quote has had a positive influence on his life as he interacted with people.
Bill: Speaking of “seeing the good in others”, once a month my workout buds from the gym meet for dinner, which is where I met Jim. Our group has been meeting for a couple years now, sharing camaraderie, clever turn of phrase, lies and colorful expletives. Even though most of us show a range of human traits, one or two good qualities sometime peek out (Gentlemen and scholars). So, we keep meeting and “seeing the good”.
Sheri: Seeing the good in others is a simple but very powerful way to feel happier, more loving and ultimately become more productive in your life. It takes a lot of time and energy to focus and negative things.
Ok, ok... No, we are not suggesting you wear rose colored glasses. But while we all can see the flaws and shortcomings in each other, we can also recognize that we humans are complex, multifaceted beings, capable of both good and bad.
When we make a conscious decision to focus on strengths rather than weaknesses, on potential rather than mistakes (“see the good in others”) we find more common ground with others, form lasting connections, and we increase our overall positivity, happiness and fulfillment. Thanks, Jim, for the reminder...we’re all in! Wanna join us?
Positively speaking, Sheri & Bill, Story Tellers in Word, Image and Song.
