Sounds of the city night keep calling out to me…

Streaks across the darkened sky, neon signs flash rhythmically.

I hear the constant surging, as the El Train presses on…

Soothed by the sound I stand outside, just before the dawn.

   

And thoughts of you swirl endlessly.

I see your face in front of me.

Wish you were near….wish you were here.

Daylight hours on city streets, I search each passing crowd.

A glimpse of you, your smiling face, I call your name out loud!

So many faces all around, it’s you I want to see.

I join the crowd and board the train….City comforts me.
