A Leg To Stand On

Flamingos are known for their color, but have you ever pondered or appreciated their balance? One leg. Calm. Confident. Unshaken.
We all need a leg to stand on - not just physically, but emotionally, spiritually, mentally. Something that grounds us when life gets messy or unpredictable. That leg is a belief, a value, a little grit and grace.
Balance means knowing what holds you steady, even if you’re still working out the details on the inside.
Sheri: Sometimes I think I’m doing fine - that is until the schedule changes, the Wi-Fi dies, or three things go sideways at the same time. That’s when I realize how much I rely on my internal “legs” or anchor points. Music, a deep breath, a short internal talking too, a walk, or connecting with Bill. Those seem to be the legs I stand on. 😊
Bill: I’ve never stood on just one leg for more than 30 seconds (unless I was putting on a sock and even that was a LONG time ago!), but in life, I think I’ve learned to balance better. Humor helps. So does knowing who’s in your corner when things tilt a little sideways. We don’t need to have everything together, just a steady leg to stand on. After all, a flamingo stands on one leg, because if he lifted the other one, he’d fall for sure.
“He who stands firm is not he who never falls, but he who rises again and again.” — Confucian proverb
Stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” — 1 Corinthians 16:13
“A firm tree does not fear the wind.” — Chinese Proverb

Positive Reflections...
Sheri: I spent a lot of time writing this week and realized how much clarity I get from writing things, and of course daily struggles help decide what to focus on for our blog. Sometimes just writing stuff down helps to give you something solid to stand on.
Bill: I didn’t accomplish even half my to-do list this week, but we did make time for some laughs, good conversation with friends, and a few meals outside on the patio. We also stay current on our memberships (members in “good standing” 😊)

Music Corner…
Our focus this week is on staying grounded, resilient and ready. When life feels off kilter, music has a way of steadying the soul. These songs remind us to lean on what’s solid, rise when we stumble, and keep standing strong, one beat at a time.
“Lean on Me” – Bill Withers …Timeless reminder that we’re not meant to carry it all alone. Whether you’re the one offering support or the one needing it, this soulful anthem makes space for both. Connection is strength!
“Stand by Me” – Ben E. King … Simple, steady, and true. this classic is like musical hand holding. It’s a good song to give you strength r when you need a little reassurance .
“Keep the Faith” – Bon Jovi … Part pep talk, part fist pump, this song is for when life gets messy and loud. It reminds us that grit and belief can carry us through just about anything.
What songs would you have selected?
Positively speaking, Sheri & Bill
