A Seasoned View

Salt, pepper, a blue napkin, and a window looking out toward a new port of call just coming into view. Simple things—ordinary things. And yet, we felt it was striking—and worthy of a photo.
Finishing breakfast, as the ship was about to dock, there was that gentle hush of anticipation. And these two humble shakers sitting side by side had front-row seats to it all. Salt and pepper containers enjoyed the view too. 😊
Sheri: I looked at the salt and pepper and thought, “They look like seasoned travelers.” They’ve seen sunrises and rough seas. They’ve slid back and forth during choppy waters, but they’re still standing. You don’t really notice them until you need them—and then you realize how much flavor and spice they add. They’re kind of like us: a little weathered, but still useful – lol - and definitely we are better together.
Bill: I’ll be honest, the older I get, the more I appreciate a good seat with a good view. Bonus points if food is involved. And in that quiet moment before docking, I had everything I needed: a calm harbor, a peaceful pause, and someone across from me who knows exactly how I like my eggs and shares the morning with me every single day.
There’s value in the in-between moments, those spaces between movement and arrival. That’s where wisdom gathers, and “seasoning” settles in. The light hits the waves just right, and even the salt and pepper look poetic.
So today, don’t miss the view right in front of you. Don’t overlook the ordinary things that make life richer every day.
Here’s to all you “movers and shakers” seasoned from living. Wherever you’re headed next, just know you are already bringing something good to the table - a little spice to your life.
“The voyage of discovery is not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” — Marcel Proust
“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” — Robert Brault
“A wise man travels to discover himself.” — James Russell Lowell

Positive Reflections...
Sheri: I watched the sunset from the patio this week. It was so peaceful that it felt like I was on vacation, I should do that more often.
Bill: I had a great positive bonding moment with my youngest grandson recently. While sitting at a restaurant table waiting for food, we were able to balance 12 half-n-half coffee creamers on top of one another without spilling a drop. Small victories.

Music Corner…
This week we showcase songs that have moments of pause, perspective, companionship, and appreciation for the ordinary:
"Circle Game" – Joni Mitchell … A gentle, poetic take on the passage of time, perspective, and how we grow through the seasons of life.
“Sittin’ On The Dock of the Bay” – Otis Redding …A classic reflection on stillness, change, and quiet observation. Perfect for a view out the window before docking.
“Come Away With Me” – Norah Jones … Gentle, warm, and filled with that slow, steady kind of love and trust. Like two shakers at a table, side by side.
What songs would you have selected?
Positively speaking, Sheri & Bill
