A Shining Moment

Sometimes the most meaningful moments of the season aren’t wrapped in glittering paper or surrounded by grand celebrations. Sometimes they’re found in the soft glow of a single ornament - a small, colorful reminder that even simple things can carry years of memory and warmth. In the middle of the holiday hurry, when schedules pull us in every direction and the to-do lists seem endless, that ornament becomes a quiet pause. It slows us down just enough to notice a memory, a smile, or a feeling we might otherwise rush past.
Sheri: “The holiday season is sort of like a snow globe: everything swirling until suddenly it’s still… and then sometimes my globe feels upside down , and other times it’s incredibly calm even though I think I should still be running and shaking things up.”
Bill: “I think it’s more like the dog when he hears the treat bag crinkle: excited, hopeful, and a little chaotic. Either way, the season has a rhythm of its own.”
But a lone ornament catching the morning light can quickly bring us back to childhood wonder, to traditions gently passed down, or to someone we love who once hung that very ornament with care. Joy has a wonderful way of sneaking in through the tiny details we almost overlook.
This season, we hope you find comfort in the understated moments, the ones that whisper instead of shout. As you sit down with a cup of something warm, maybe you can’t share it with a friend, but you can wrap yourself in the sweetness of the memories you’ve made with them.
And when that little ornament or decoration glimmers in front of you, may it remind you of the moments that shaped you while nudging you gently toward the ones still waiting to happen.
From our hearts to yours, we wish you peace, joy, and a little sparkle in the simplest places this holiday season.
Sheri & Bill, Storytellers in Word Image and Song

“The spirit of Christmas is the spirit of love, of generosity and of goodness. It illuminates the picture window of the soul, and we look out upon the world with a heart made tender by its light.” Thomas S. Monson
“There is something in the season of Christmas which never fails to make me glad.” Washington Irving
“I love the feeling of a Christmas tree all decorated and bright, as if it holds a little bit of magic in its branches.” Louisa May Alcott

Music Corner…
Certain songs seem to capture the quiet wonder, the joy, and the nostalgia of the season - melodies that can make a single ornament sparkle a little brighter or a cozy morning feel even warmer. Here are a few timeless Christmas carols that perfectly echo the gentle magic of the holidays.
“The First Noel” – Pentatonix … Soft, storytelling, and warm.
“God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen” – Phil Wickham … Traditional, comforting, with a message of joy and peace.
“Away in a Manger” – Carrie Underwood… Quiet, tender, and nostalgic—ideal for reflective imagery.
