All Ears...

Corn, corn, corn. Funny how we can collect an earful if we want to. Okay, okay...a little corny, right? Just warning you—more corn is on the way!

Bill: Years ago, my dad told me it's difficult to learn something with your mouth open. He'd say, "Use your ears for more than a hat rack."

Sheri: And then there are pearls of wisdom...they can easily go "in one ear and out the other." 😊

Bill: Ever notice how you get better grades in a class when the teacher is more animated? Some people are definitely "easier on the ears" than others.

Sheri: And my favorite (I wish I had this!)—being able to sit down with new music and “play it by ear.”

Bill: I can top that. Hearing that our friends were going on a cruise with us was true "music to our ears."

Sheri: And I love meeting someone with an infectious smile "from ear to ear."

We've had our fun with ears and corn, but here's the kernel of truth: good listeners are always in short supply. The people who truly listen often make the biggest difference in the lives of others.

Maybe the lesson is pretty simple. God gave us two ears and only one mouth for a reason. May we use them well. Amen.
