Be Still

Be Still…
Be still, and let the weight of the moment fall away,
Like leaves that drift to the forest floor.
In the silence, the soul finds its compass,
Pointing home to the calm you thought you’d lost.
Be still, and watch as time softens its grip,
Seconds stretching like golden threads in the sun.
The rush fades, replaced by a gentle pulse,
A reminder that life is more than a race.
Be still, and feel the earth beneath your feet,
Steady, unchanging, a quiet anchor.
In stillness, the world reveals its hidden wonders,
And you become one with its quiet song.
…Poetry by Sheri Eppright
“Listen to the silence, it has much to say.” Rumi
Sheri: Stillness doesn’t come easily to me, as my mind often runs way ahead of my body. But this week I stepped outside early one morning, just as the sun was beginning to warm the sky. I stood barefoot in the grass - no phone, no plan, just presence. And it felt like the world exhaled with me.
Bill: Stillness is focus, where you remember what matters. I’ve already programmed my brain with a gazillion questions, and it’s working in the background. Now it’s breaktime, and I stop trying to solve everything at once. Sometimes, answers to the important stuff just float up - quietly, like a leaf landing on water. Pretty cool!
“In quietness and trust shall be your strength.” — Isaiah 30:15
“Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Within you, there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time.” — Hermann Hesse

Positive Reflections
Sheri: I have come to realize that writing our blog is therapeutic. As I search inside for positive thoughts and reflections I want to share, there is stillness I feel. It sort of slows my brain down in a good way.
Bill: I took my coffee outside the other morning and just listened to the birds, the breeze, and the sound of life happening without needing any assistance from me. It wasn’t a dramatic moment. Just real. And still. Got a few answers too.

Music Moments…
This week our focus is on songs that invite stillness. These songs remind us that stillness doesn’t mean stopping. Stillness means listening, softening, and allowing the moment to hold us for a while.
“The Sound of Silence” – Simon & Garfunkel … This haunting classic reminds us that stillness can be powerful, and even a little uncomfortable. It’s not just about quiet; it’s about what we hear when the noise fades. It’s a song that lingers.
“Let It Be” – The Beatles ... Sometimes the best thing you can do is… nothing. This Beatles song offers a kind of musical exhale, a reminder to stop pushing so hard and allow life to unfold.
"Morning Has Broken” – Cat Stevens … A hymn to the peacefulness of dawn and the sacred rhythm of nature. This gentle, piano-led melody invites you to pause and soak in the gift of the moment.
