Half Full?

Life loves to serve us glasses filled to unpredictable levels. Some days, the pour feels generous, even bubbling to the brim with possibilities. Other days? Well, let’s just say we’re squinting at the dregs, wondering if the pitcher ran dry.
Sheri: Life has a funny way of asking the same question over and over, "Half full or half empty?" It just pours in a new beverage at a new level and then walks away to see what will happen.
Bill: I like to think the glass is always full. Maybe not with the drink you wanted, but full, nonetheless. There’s always room to breathe, to move, to hope, to improve. A half-empty outlook focuses on what’s missing. A half-full view celebrates what’s already there. And the real magic? Even a half-full glass leaves room for the rest - opportunity, growth, and surprises still waiting to pour in. Main thing is to not spill it on our shoes.
Positivity isn’t pretending the glass is overflowing. It’s appreciating what is present while staying ready for what you do next. Every act of kindness, every shift in mindset, every moment of gratitude adds to it. The more we notice what’s there and embrace what’s possible, the more fullness we invite into our days.
Heading out early one morning for a photo shoot - orange juice in hand, - we actually grumbled that we weren't there yet. But then we both settled in and began to watch the morning light shift and the scenery change. We were reminded that the journey is part of the joy, and there would be "refills" along the way...rarely with the same beverage we started out with.
Bottom line, a half-full glass is both a gift and an invitation. It’s full enough to be grateful, and empty enough for growth, possibility, and joy.
As you celebrate the beginning of another year, take time to keep your eyes open, your heart ready, and your glass in hand . There will be plenty of life to sip, laugh, and toast. Get the pitcher? 😊

Positive Reflections...
"Wealth is the ability to fully experience life." – Henry David Thoreau
“The world is full of magical things patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper.” – Bertrand Russell
“Keep your face always toward the sunshine—and shadows will fall behind you.” – Walt Whitman

Music Corner...
When your glass feels half empty, turn up the music; it’s amazing how a good song can top it off. The right melody doesn’t just lift your spirits; it reminds you that joy is a refillable resource. Here are a few tunes that sing that truth loud and clear.
“Put a Little Love in Your Heart” – Jackie DeShannon (1969) … Bright, hopeful, and universally uplifting, this song reminds us that every bit of positivity we pour out refills someone else’s glass.
“Best Day of My Life” – American Authors (2013)… Energetic and contagious, this one celebrates the idea that joy isn’t something we wait for — it’s something we choose, right here, right now.
“Good Life” – OneRepublic (2009) … This song is a reflective yet joyful reminder to savor life’s imperfections: “please tell me what there is to complain about?”
