Parrots wear every feather with confidence. Oftentimes, we shrink ourselves a little to fit into spaces that were never meant to contain us. We tone ourselves down to avoid standing out or to meet expectations that were never really ours to begin with. So how about we let our colors fly? That’s the kind of energy we need more of!
The Beauty of Being Colorful
Sheri: I think the world always needs colorful people—people with all their quirks, ideas, and sparkle. These are the folks who are unapologetically vibrant and do it with heart.
Bill: If I showed up in the parrot version of my wardrobe, people would assume I’d taken a wrong turn at Mardi Gras! It works for parrots; they strut around like it’s the most natural thing in the world to be loud, bold, and dressed like a tropical fruit salad. They go about their bird business, stealing the spotlight and the snacks.
Someone out there is looking for a little more color in their world, and your courage to shine might just give them the permission they didn’t know they needed. So how about it? Today, let your colors fly!
“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” — Oscar Wilde
“To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight.” — E.E. Cummings
“Know thyself.” — Socrates
“No creature is so small that it cannot display the power of individuality.” — Arthur Schopenhauer

Positive Reflections: A Splash of Color
Sheri: This week while grocery shopping, the lady in front of me was wearing the loudest floral shirt I’ve ever seen. It made me smile and reconsider my basic black or navy outfits. Hmm… maybe I need more than just a splash of color. That lady didn’t know it, but she made my day a little brighter just by being herself.
Bill: I wore my “bird shirt” again this week—the one Sheri swears can be seen from outer space. I used to only wear it on vacation, but now I wear it because it makes me smile. A guy at the post office said, “Well, you’re having a good day!” And I thought, you know what? I am.

Music Corner: Letting Your Colors Fly
There’s so much music out there that celebrates individuality, freedom, and letting your colors fly—even if the lyrics don’t say it in quite that manner! 😊

“You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman” – Aretha Franklin
This song is a soulful celebration of feeling fully seen and authentic, both powerful and deeply personal.
“My Way” – Frank Sinatra
This classic is all about living life on your own terms. A perfect fit for anyone letting their colors fly, no matter what the world expects.
Positively speaking, Sheri & Bill
