Perfect 10

Perfection is a path, not a destination - or a bowling alley. You can aim for it, but don’t expect to live there. In bowling, the gold standard is the elusive “300 game,” ten frames of nothing but strikes. Even rarer? The almost mythical “900 series” which is three consecutive 300s. Only 40 bowlers in history have ever done it. That’s bowling perfection.
Bill: Is it possible? Sure. But the odds are about as friendly as getting hit by lightning or hitting the lottery jackpot. Of course, you could raise your chances by standing under a tree during a storm, or by at least buying that lottery ticket. Still, the odds remain stacked against perfection.
Sheri: I’ve found that chasing “perfect” usually just stresses me out. But when I focus on little wins and steady progress, I can enjoy the process. And funny enough, that’s when the best results show up.
So, what’s the smarter play? Daily improvement. Instead of chasing flawless performance, focus on minor adjustments, consistent effort, and the joy of small victories.
Every practice session, every frame you roll, every day you commit to growth moves you closer to excellence, even if you never hit that perfect 300. A life built on steady gains is far more satisfying (and sustainable) than chasing an all-or-nothing fantasy.
Perfection is rare. Progress, however, is available to all of us, every day. And when you string together enough days of improvement, you may discover something even better than perfect: a life rich in growth, joy, and momentum.
Now that’s a winning series.
