Our photo pretty much gives it away: this is a shameless (but very positive!) promotion for our book, Pictures, Pen, and Positivity.
Life is full of small moments, the kind you almost miss if you’re moving too fast. But when you begin to look for them, really look, something shifts. Those moments start to add up. A glance, a laugh, a flicker of light - each can carry more meaning than we often realize.
That’s the heartbeat of this book: imperfectly and honestly, we choose to look at life through a positive lens. We look with a little curiosity, a little humor, and a lot of appreciation for the small stuff. 😊
For us, it often starts with Pictures. A shadow on the wall. Light through a windshield at sunrise. A coffee cup left behind after laughter with a friend.
Images invite us to pause and really see what’s already around us. A well-composed photo reminds us that even simple moments can hold meaning—when we choose to see them.
Then comes the Pen. Writing gives those moments a voice – a simple two or three word caption. A sentence before it fades. A paragraph that brings clarity.
Sheri: I have to admit I am just as apt to capture fleeting phrases I read or hear around me that spark the beginnings of a new story. Sometimes we already have an image that works perfectly to help tell the story. And other times it opens the door for another photo adventure. The words and phrases are so easy to miss if I’m not tuned in and paying attention to the world around me.
The pen turns noticing into understanding. It helps us explore what we see, uncovering humor, growth, and insight. And over time reveals patterns of resilience and gratitude woven through everyday life.
Then comes Positivity, the lens that brings everything into focus. Not denial, but direction. A choice to look for opportunities instead of obstacles. To stay curious. To lighten the load.
Positivity builds resilience, renews perspective, and helps us reframe everyday life. Through a positive lens, even an ordinary day can become something worth remembering - with a smile.
Bill: In athletics and in business, I’ve seen it over and over: what you focus on grows. If you look for what’s broken, you’ll find it. If you look for what’s working, you’ll find that too. Positivity is choosing to build on reality and move forward.
This is the heartbeat of Pictures, Pen, and Positivity, how we choose to move together through the world. We notice the small things, take pictures, and write to better understand and share what we see.
