Weights on a rack are stored “potential energy.” Energy in motion (kinetic energy), occurs when you actually lift them up. And when you lift them repeatedly, you experience the heat energy you feel in your muscles (which is internal kinetic energy). Physics in action. Presto, you’re stronger and healthier. Ready to flex, do good deeds and create world peace.
Some tasks generate a lot more heat than others. Writing a thank-you note is pretty mild, whereas fixing a printer is volcanic. And even multiplying cells in our body creates a trace of energy. This just shows your life is always busy—even behind the scenes.
Bill: An example I can relate to is stretching a rubber band – this is potential energy in waiting. Now, letting it fly, that’s kinetic heat energy unleashed. Energy with a mischievous streak? Guess it’s a matter of direction. 😊
Sheri: I see energy a little like confetti. It’s fun to toss it around, but if you throw it everywhere, you just end up with a mess to sweep up. Aim it in the right direction, though, and suddenly you’ve got a celebration. Energy with a plan makes all the difference. It turns random sparks into something worth remembering.
Weights on the rack don’t get you stronger by just sitting there. Energy in life works the same way. We all carry potential—ideas, skills, connections, creativity—but it’s not until we move with intention that it turns into something meaningful. Add direction, and you’re not just burning energy, you’re building strength, momentum, and legacy.
So go ahead—pick up the “weights” in front of you. Whether it’s a project, a conversation, or that stubborn printer, put your energy to work. Just remember: motion plus direction equals progress. And if a little heat shows up along the way, that just means you’re getting stronger.

Positive Reflections...
"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” – Lao Tzu
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle

Music Corner…
Energy shows up in music just as much as in physics. Some songs remind us of the potential we carry, others push us into motion, and a few light the spark that keeps us moving forward. Here are a few quotes and songs that capture what it means to turn potential into power, direction, and strength.
“Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” – Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell ... A classic reminder that obstacles are no match for focused energy. When love or purpose is strong enough, nothing can hold back the motion forward.
“Stronger” – Kanye West ... Built around the idea that challenge fuels growth, this song is a pulse of kinetic energy in musical form. It’s the soundtrack of turning pressure into power.
“Fight Song” – Rachel Platten ... A modern anthem of inner strength and direction. It celebrates the moment when potential energy finally bursts into motion and creates unstoppable momentum.
