Where There's A Will...

Early one spring morning we noticed a tiny yellow flower poking up through a narrow crack in our cobblestone patio. No garden bed. No special soil. Just a sliver of daylight between two stones. Pretty sure nothing was supposed to grow there.
That cheerful little flower reminded us of one of life’s most reliable truths: where there’s a will, there’s a way, or at least the beginning of one.
Sheri: Willpower sometimes looks just like this small flower pushing through a tiny crack in the patio. A little determination. A little patience. A little “let’s try this and see what happens.”
Bill: Remember the classic children’s story The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper? Facing a steep mountain, the tiny engine didn’t have the biggest wheels or the most horsepower. What it had was attitude, determination, and optimism, repeating the famous line, “I think I can, I think I can.” Before long, it did.
Our little patio flower probably didn’t realize it was delivering a life lesson, but there it was. Bright yellow, standing tall as if it had every right to bloom there between two old and unyielding cobblestones.
Every day we see people doing the same thing. They start small projects, learn new skills, repair friendships, chase dreams, and keep going when things get tough. Sometimes progress looks dramatic. More often it looks like tiny steps… or tiny flowers. A little determination. A little optimism. A little “I think I can.”
And sometimes, just like that tiny flower in the patio, something wonderful pops up where no one expected it.

Positive Reflections...
Likeminded Perspectives
“Energy and persistence conquer all things.” — Benjamin Franklin
“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” — Confucius
“Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson

Music Corner... Say It in Song.
Music has been cheering on determined people for decades. These three classics echo our “where there’s a will” theme.
"A Change Is Gonna Come" — Sam Cooke (1964) … A powerful classic about hope and perseverance even when the road is difficult.
"I Won’t Back Down" — Tom Petty (1989) … Possibly one of the clearest musical statements of determination ever written.
"Rise Up" — Andra Day (2015) … A modern anthem about finding the strength to keep going.
