A before-dark walking photo tour of Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia, had all the makings of a chilling yet entertaining and educational experience. While not necessarily superstitious, we were still relieved to have scheduled our visit during daylight hours. History surrounded us at every turn, as we discovered the final resting places of many notable figures—including golf legend Bobby Jones, Gone with the Wind author Margaret Mitchell, and country music icon Kenny Rogers.
As we wandered the paths, one undeniable truth became clear: the local residents of the cemetery all had one thing in common. They no longer moved, had little to say, and (thankfully!) showed no signs of life during our visit.
Determined to capture the perfect shot, we meandered among the headstones, pausing now and then to admire intricate carvings, poignant epitaphs, and the passage of time etched in stone.
Then, up ahead, we spotted something unusual—a lone shovel propped against a tree, framed by the silent rows of tombstones. Naturally, we stopped, camera in hand, ready to capture the eerie yet thought-provoking scene. And just at that moment, an imaginary voice seemed to whisper: "If you can move, keep moving!"
Bill: Well, we didn’t actually hear voices but we got the message loud and clear... Keep moving!
Sheri: Yes!. Life is short, and movement—whether in body, mind, or spirit—is what keeps us truly alive.
So, take that walk, chase that dream, and never stop exploring. Because as long as you can move, keep moving!
