All In The Same Boat

If you’ve ever seen a boat full of rainbow-colored glass spheres, you know two things:
1. Dale Chihuly has been here, and
2. Life’s certainly more interesting when we’re not all the same.
Friends, like these glass spheres, come in all shapes, sizes, talents and experiences. Some are bold and bright, others more muted but equally captivating. Together, they create something remarkable — just like the mix of personalities, backgrounds, talents and experiences that make our friendships richer and our communities stronger.
Sheri: I loved this colorful Chihuly glass display at the Biltmore Gardens! Every sphere was unique - swirls of red, flecks of gold, deep blues, and playful greens. No two were the same, but each looked like it belonged exactly where it was placed in the small boat. Just like the friends who color our lives, they each come with their own distinctive beauty.
Bill: It’s sorta like your favorite football team. Alone each player is a good athlete, but all working together as a team, the effect is a winner. Each player’s shape, size and talent is suited best for their role and team synergy. Let your colors fly!
Sheri: There was Chihuly glass everywhere that day - probably the biggest burst of color variation I’ve ever experienced. A crowd of good friends can feel that way, too.
Bill: And for the record, I’d love a Chihuly sphere or two for the yard. Sheri says I’d end up trying to juggle them… she’s probably right.
If every friendship was the same, life would be beige. Treasure the reds, blues, and golds in your circle - and let them shine. Find someone in your world who’s different from you - in style, background, or outlook - and ask them to share part of their story. You might just discover your new favorite color!

Positive Reflections...
Our ability to reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and the test of our civilization.” – Mahatma Gandhi
“Variety's the very spice of life, which gives it all its flavor.” – William Cowper
“Variety is the spice of life.” – Proverb
For this week, we’ve picked three songs that shine a light on the beauty of being ourselves while celebrating the magic that happens when we come together. Each one carries its own rhythm, style, and message, but they all point to the same truth: our differences make the harmony richer.
“Everyday People” -- Sly & The Family Stone (1968) This funky groove reminds us we are all part of the same human family - no one better, no one worse, just different strokes for different folks.
“We Are Family” -- Sister Sledge (1979)This disco classic is pure joy in musical form, celebrating the bonds that hold us together. Whether it is family by blood or family by choice, it is a reminder that we are stronger and happier when we stick together.
“One Love” -- Bob Marley & The Wailers (1977)A timeless reggae that calls for unity, kindness, and peace. Marley blends a gentle beat with a powerful message: when we put love first, the world becomes a better, more connected place for everyone.
