Question: “Hi, how are you doin’ today?” Answer: “Better today!”
That simple reply may not sound dramatic, but it carries a quiet victory behind the scenes. Small daily “wins” can slowly add up. All you have to do is pick a few categories where you’d like to improve.
How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. But how many bites should you take today? What’s the serving size? What’s the daily recommended dose? Don’t worry about the math. Just take a bite. If you take even one today, you’re already doing better than yesterday. Bon appétit!
Bill: Today my menu items include:
1. Getting a little more fit,
2. Improving my guitar skills, and
3. Writing an encouraging article for people to ponder and enjoy.
Well, this morning I rode my stationary bike for a while. Then practiced "Over the Rainbow" until the chords felt a little smoother. And these words you’re just now reading are progress for item number three. 😊
Sheri: For me it was organizing the pantry - I focused on elimination of unhealthy snacks (they seem to find their way into the pantry when I'm not looking). Then I figured out how to hook up the pressure washer AND clean the driveway. Small victories…yes!
Over time we’ve noticed something promising. Tiny steps often lead to big improvements. Our neighbor once started by walking just five minutes each morning. That didn’t sound like much, but five minutes became ten, then twenty. A year later he had lost weight, gained energy, and discovered he enjoyed the exercise (almost).
Another friend made a simple habit of writing down three good things that happened each day. That small habit gradually shifted his outlook, and people around him noticed the difference.
Little victories. Little thoughts. Little improvements. Day by day, the pattern stays the same: small effort adds up. Then when someone asks, “How are you doin’ today?” you can smile and honestly say, “Better today.”
Positively speaking, Sheri & Bill
