Remember the saying, “every pot has a lid?” Most folks hear it and think about partnering romantically. But looking at it from a different angle, it’s all about the fit. Not forced fit. Not “close enough” fit, but that satisfying, just-right moment when things come together the way they were meant to.

Think about it. Every problem, no matter how oddly shaped, has a solution or resolution out there somewhere. It may not be obvious. It may not be quick. It might even look a little unconventional. But like a missing lid, it exists. Sometimes it just takes creative positivity in action, and a willingness to keep looking in the back of the cabinet.

Sheri: Today, I opened the kitchen cabinet and found three lids… two didn’t fit anything, and one fit the pot just right – it was a “Goldilocks” moment.

Bill: Which proves two things: one: organization matters, and two: life always loves a good metaphor.

Sheri: Or, we could buy a new set and I could toss the lids that don’t fit anything.

Bill: Also, a valid strategy. This also makes me think of tools. Ever try using the

wrong tool for a job? It’s frustrating, inefficient, and occasionally dangerous. But when you find the right one, suddenly the task feels almost effortless. That’s not luck. That’s alignment.

So maybe the real message here isn’t about changing yourself to fit what’s in front of you. It’s about recognizing that the right fit doesn’t require force.

Trust that your value isn’t measured by how well you adapt to the wrong situations, but by how naturally you align with the right ones. “A lid for every pot” reminds us not to settle - not in relationships, not in purpose, not in work, and not in self-worth.

The right fit often connects to what already sparks something inside you. The things you enjoy, the ideas that keep returning, the moments when time seems to move a little differently. Those are clues. They’re the lids sitting patiently on the shelf, waiting to be picked up and placed where they belong.
