“I must have flowers, always and always” (Claude Monet)
Pretty simple right? But the reality of this statement is quite profound: we can’t imagine a world without the beauty of flowers! Aside from their importance to our eco system, a field full of flowers can stop us two photographers in our tracks, the beauty is so overwhelming.
Sheri: Flowers always fill me with happiness and lots of endorphins. A study at Texas A&M a few years ago confirmed that flowers (and plants) in the workplace increase productivity, problem-solving and creativity and reduce negativity and anxiety.
I wish I could say that my great love of flowers means I have a green thumb, but sadly that is not the case.

Bill: No green thumb here, either, but I can tote a green garden hose around the yard each morning. I’ve also taken up talking to the flowers— not sure my mumbling morning logic, with hose in one hand, coffee in the other helps the flowers, but for me? You betcha’! 😊 .
We may be short on green thumbs at our home, but each May we buy several baskets of petunias and marigolds and set them out back to enjoy. We usually start out the season with a few other varieties, but the petunias and marigolds manage to hang out with us throughout the season, showing themselves hardy enough to withstand our lack of gardening prowess.

Sheri: And then there are my lilies--those orange, and yellow and fuchsia bulbs I planted several years ago. Every spring they begin their majestic climb to a whopping 5-6’ tall summer display.

There’s usually a moment when everything blooms at once, and we sit outside with our morning coffee and pretend we had something to do with it. In reality we know the truth, and we are just happy for a brief moment to enjoy our very own kaleidoscope of color.
