“Friendship is the golden thread that ties the heart of all the world." (John Evelyn)
Reconnecting…“to create a relationship with someone again after a period of time”.
Humans are social creatures, highly influenced by the people around us each day. Who we spend time with impacts on how we behave and our perspective on life. Our shared philosophy is to connect with folks and develop a network of active positive friends. And of course, to keep a smile on our faces!
With that in mind, we recently took a road trip to Cleveland Ohio to reconnect with Bill’s Sigma Chi brothers from 1969 at Kent State University

Bill: I have not seen any of these guys in 55 years, and over that time we’ve done our best to become a diverse group of temperaments, talents and convictions. Funny though, none of us have changed one bit from our 1969 yearbook pictures--still a bunch of stud muffins!
I was amazed at how easy it was to strike up conversations during our several gatherings. We shook hands and chatted as if our last conversation was yesterday instead of 1969. Perhaps sharing Sigma Chi core values of true friendship, justice and learning has kept us connected despite the many years of separation. I felt inspired and rejuvenated.
Sheri: Everyone there was a new connection for me. I met some great people, and I enjoyed hearing their life experiences, including a few stories about Bill in his college days.
Welcoming arms and clever supportive conversation quickly became the natural “good of the order.” We will be back next year, and maybe we’ll find ways to reconnect more often than that.
Life is better when we connect with new friends and reconnect with past friends!
