Write Your Own Story

Abraham Lincoln said, “The best way to predict the future is to create it.”
We agree—but maybe start by writing it down.
Think of it like making a list and checking things off as you go. The first item might be “win the lottery.” (Who says this has to be nonfiction?) It’s your story. Creativity isn’t just allowed, it’s required.
Just remember, you’re in the driver’s seat. If you decide on a beach vacation, that might be about four hours east. But if you decide to learn a new skill, that might be four weeks or four years in another direction entirely. Either way, nobody gets anywhere by sitting in the driveway revving the engine.
Sheri: Getting from here to there usually starts small and decisive. One phone call. One class. One walk instead of a nap. One sentence written down instead of floating around in your head. Progress shows up when you do.
Writing your own story works the same way. Big dreams are welcome here. Encouraged, even. But dreams need short, connected paragraphs. Today’s job isn’t to finish the book; it’s to write the next line. Tomorrow, write another. Before long, you’ll look back and realize you’ve got a few chapters behind you.
Bill: Want proof you’re capable? Look over your shoulder. You’ve already lived through several chapters. You adapted. You figured things out. You kept going.
That’s not luck. That’s authorship.
So, here’s how you get there from here: decide what “there” means - for now. Take a step in that direction. Write it down. Then do it again tomorrow.
When you write your own story, the greatest chapters are often the ones still ahead. And since you’re the one holding the pen, why not give yourself
top billing as the hero? After all, this is the part where you and your friends live happily after ever.
No crystal ball required. Just a pen - or a keyboard. The ending doesn’t need to be written yet. Just promise yourself that the next page gets even better.
Your story and future are so bright, you just might need shades!

Positive Reflections...
“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” Henry David Thoreau
“Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Music Corner....
Music has a way of saying what we’re still trying to figure out. Long before we find the right words, a song reminds us that we’re not alone, that movement matters, and that becoming who we’re meant to be is a journey worth taking.
These two songs, although spanning 2 decades, share a common thread of nudging us forward, inviting courage, and reminding us that writing your own story often comes with a soundtrack.
“A Change Is Gonna Come” – Sam Cooke (1964)…A timeless reminder that hope, perseverance, and belief in a better future matter, even when the road is hard.
“I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” – U2 (1987)…An honest anthem for anyone still writing their story, embracing the journey without pretending to have it all figured out.
